Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (MASDAR) awarded Al Jaber Energy Services LLC, part of the multifaceted Al Jaber Group, a US$ 1.64 Billion contract for the development of the first phase of the infrastructure and enabling works for MASDAR City in Abu Dhabi.

The announcement took place during a signing ceremony at MASDAR Headquarters (Construction Site) between H.E. Ahmed Al Sayegh, Chairman, Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (MASDAR) and H.E. Obaid Al Jaber, Chairman, Al Jaber Group.

The project is scheduled for three years, beginning January 2009 and involves all infrastructure and enabling works including vehicle parking structures.

H.E. Ahmed Al Sayegh commented saying, “We are pleased to join hands with Al Jaber Group to execute the infrastructure and enabling works of MASDAR City; this is a great initiative and we look forward to a successful relationship with the Al Jaber Group. From the first planning stages of this project, we were keen to cooperate with leading national companies to make this project a phenomenal success”.

During the signing ceremony, H.E. Obaid Al Jaber said, “We are proud to be awarded this project and are honored to have gained the trust of Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company. We are committed, as always, to delivering the highest standards of service and quality, with our history in the UAE and the region supporting our position as a leading contractor for such auspicious projects. Our sincere gratitude goes to the UAE leadership who continue to exhibit great vision for developing our nation, and for their continued support to national companies in this regard”.

MASDAR’s selection of Al Jaber Energy Services LLC was the result of rigorous negotiations and the success of AJES in meeting the high standards determined by MASDAR to undertake this unique project. New construction methods and technologies will be introduced for the first time in the UAE through the development of this project. AJES will, during the course of the project, cooperate with leading global organizations that provide the latest innovations and solutions to meet the criteria of MASDAR City.

The selection of Al Jaber Energy Services LLC was a result of a protracted process whereby four other contractors were called to submit tenders. AJES was short-listed and following stringent negotiations were awarded this project.

Mrs. Fatima Al Jaber, COO, Al Jaber Group led the negotiations on behalf of Al Jaber Group for the past six months, supported by AJES Management Team.
