GPS wins Apache Gas Compression Contract

Abu Dhabi, 30 September 2013 — Global Process Systems (GPS), a member of Al Jaber Group, has been awarded a major contract for leading Australian firm Apache Energy Limited.

10820130957528228585The award is for the Varanus Island Compression Project (VICP) and involves the installation of two gas compression modules and associated utility systems to support enhanced well deliverability from the John Brookes Field, north-western Australia. The project will be executed by a combined team from GPS Singapore and GPS’ facility in Batam, Indonesia.

GPS Director & General Manager – Asia Pacific Brian Cameron said, “This is the third project we have secured for the Australian market this quarter. Apache Energy is a premium player in the energy sector and a valued client for GPS. Our team at Batam has established a solid reputation for its world-class offshore module fabrication and this new assignment is their first major onshore module project for the Australian market. We are delighted to be adding another prestigious project to our growing portfolio.”

The award follows that of two other projects secured recently by GPS from an Australian oil major. The two gas-turbine driven compressor packages will be integrated into modules complete with scrubbers, heat exchangers, piping, valves and associated equipment. All fabrication, assembly and mechanical completion activities will be completed in the fabrication yard prior to transportation to site and integration with existing Varanus Island facilities. This modularised approach will minimise site installation work.

GPS’ scope of work includes fabrication engineering, procurement, fabrication, assembly, mechanical completion, sea fastening, weighing and preparation for load-out. The total weight of the modules/skids to be delivered is approximately 1,400 MT and comprises the two compression modules complete with pipe rack, pancakes, stair towers and secondary steel structures.

Global Process Systems (GPS) is a global provider of technology-based “design and build” process facilities solutions for the upstream Oil & Gas industry, and it is worth mentioning that GPS Batam recently completed delivery of the major FPSO topsides modules project for the LamSon JOC FPSO for PTSC Vietnam.
