Under Ashghal’s Expressway programme, a new dual carriageway would be laid between Eastern Industrial Road interchange and the existing Al Woqod petrol station roundabout. The project has provisions for pedestrians and also has dedicated cycleways to ensure safety for all types of travelers.

Also among the new works to be undertaken as part of the project are the three-level Eastern Industrial Area Street interchange, Karwa interchange, Barwa City interchange, Woqod interchange and the Al Jazeera interchange on the F-Ring road.

The three-level Eastern Industrial interchange includes an underpass and traffic signal controlled turning movements at the intersection. The two-level interchanges at the intersections at Karwa roundabout, the road to Barwa City and Al Jazeera intersection, also have similar features.

The Barwa tunnel project includes a two-lane level for left turn traffic movement from the Industrial Area to the Barwa City. The major developments to come up near the proposed Woqod interchange include an underpass, traffic signal-controlled movement and a flyover on F-Ring road.
