Dubai – 16 November 2008 – Al Jaber Group today unveiled details of its entry into the VIP and corporate aviation market with AJA – Al Jaber Aviation. Revealing its new brand identity, AJA will focus on the expanding VIP charter segment, and will begin offering services with its own fleet from February 2009.

The announcement was made on the sidelines of MEBA 2008, the Middle East Business Aviation exhibition taking place at Dubai Airport Expo until November 18, 2008.
Outlining the business rationale behind the move, Mr. Mohammed Al Jaber, CEO of AJA said: “The breathtaking economic growth over the past decade in the Middle East has created a sizeable business aviation market. The regional VIP charter market is expected to be worth about US$1 Billion per year by 2010 and is growing at 25% per annum. The epicentre of this market is right here in the UAE. We believe that through AJA, we have the right strategy to tap that potential. We are entering a fast growing and profitable, global market and our goal is to become one of the market leaders.”

AJA will provide bespoke travel solutions for individuals, families, companies and governments looking for privacy, flexibility and ultimate peace of mind when it comes to their personal travel, both on the ground and in the air.

AJA will begin flying with an all-new fleet of 21 luxury, large cabin aircraft in February 2009. From its initial base in Abu Dhabi, and later from Dubai, AJA plans to serve clients from the Middle East, Russia, Asia, Europe and Africa.

AJA has ordered 21 advanced, large cabin aircraft worth US$1 billion from Airbus and Embraer. These aircraft were selected for their superior cabin space, reliability and advanced technology. The fleet of 21 aircraft will be comprised of:

  • 2 Embraer Legacy 600
  • 5 Embraer Lineage 1000
  • 8 Embraer Legacy 450/500
  • 4 Airbus Elite
  • 2 Airbus Corporate Jetliner

“Today at MEBA, we are also delighted to announce the purchase of two ultra-large cabin Airbus Corporate Jetliners (ACJs) with space for 32 guests as well as eight next-generation Embraer Legacy 450/500s with spacde for 6/9 guets. The Embraer Legacy 600 will be the first aircraft to proudly sport the AJA livery and all our fleet will be delivered over the course of the next five years,” added Mr. Al Jaber.
